Winter is a painting that speaks to something of the essential nature of spirit. The symbolism of the egg holds an esoteric meaning ascribed to the fifth element the ether, which is spirit. It is the Spirit that surges up through the most defying conditions always holding the potential of new force, like a seed in winter or the possibility of new life contained within the egg. It is that essence which endures and is not broken.
